Nestled among mountains in the
Theni district lies the Velappar Temple. There are about 300 steps to climb in
order to get to the temple. Lord Murugan is the predominant god here, and the
Paliyars—local tribes—conduct the puja. There is a stream beside the temple
that grows into a stream naturally when it emerges from between the roots of
the mango trees. It's reported that taking a bath in this spring and consuming
meals prepared in its water can treat even the most severe illnesses.
When Kandamanayakanur Jameen was
governing around Zilla, his James was the largest ruling region. Jameen erected
this temple during that time. Brahmins are initially assigned to this temple
for Puja and Archananai. The Zameen's position is thereafter assumed by local
tribes, the Paliyar. Even yet, only their family members perform Puja and
Archana.the everlasting spring. Nestled amid hills and surrounded by lush
greenery, the temple is situated in an incredibly picturesque setting.

nearby hill caves are home to several Siddhas and sages engaged in penance.
The hill is home to the shrines
of Vinayaka, Saptha Matha, and the ruling deity, Lord Mavootru Velappar. Shrine
of Sakthi and Karuppanna Swami situated at the base of the hill. It's a hill
temple here. It is a swayambumurthi, Lord Velappar. To the south of the temple,
beneath a mango tree, is a perennial spring. The joy and traditional gestures
of the people throughout the festival celebration outclassed the other
villages. It is more than a one- or two-day event. It begins at Chithirai 1 and
ends after five weeks.
